From the 28th of May, the BBC’s Springwatch will be back from their stunning home on the RSPB Ynys-hir nature reserve in Wales where minicams are already being put in place.

27-28 May : Olympic Torch in Aberystwyth

Come and attend the celebration at Vicarage Fields, Aberystwyth to welcome the Olympic flame when it arrives on the night of Sunday, May 27 from Swansea.

The flame is due to reach the university town at just before 6.15pm on the main A487. It will then be passed by torchbearer along the Penparcau Road to Bridge Street, Great Darkgate Street on to Terrace Road, along Alexandra Road to Plascrug Avenue before it arrives at Vicarage Fields at just after 6.45pm for the party.

Gates open from 4pm.

The Llywernog Mine has now repoened as a themed attraction known as the Silver Mountain Experience.

It includes a longer & more dramatic themed underground tour, new cafe and retail shop, a water-play area for children with panning and gem jigging, woods full of myths & legend, and a completely redesigned mining heritage & green energy zone.
